10 Ways to Help Save Apes

10) Learn as much as you can about apes and their situations.  You can learn from the many websites I link on my other pages.  There are lots of good links on the Fun Stuff page , the Bonobo page, and the Other Apes page.  Once you learn about apes and how endangered they are please educate other people

9) Support the many groups that help apes in the wild and in captivity.  Many of them are linked from this website.  Join organizations that help apes and the environment, such as Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots program. If you are a kid make sure you join Kids Save Apes and sign the petition to stop poaching.

8) Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.  Our planet needs us to be more careful or we will destroy the environment for all animals including humans.  Be sure to use eco-friendly fuels.

7)  Write to politicians and other influential people about helping apes and about helping Africa.  Illness, debt, war, and environmental catastrophes have hurt many many people.

6)  Do not support apes being mistreated in entertainment or in laboratories.  Fight for apes to be treated with respect.

5) Whenever possible when you buy products try to make sure that coltan in electronics was not mined illegally and wood products were harvested in an environmentally sound way.  Be especially certain not to buy wood or palm oil that contributes to the destruction of orangutan habitat.

4)  Help organizations that are trying to stop the bushmeat trade.

3)  Watch videos of bonobos and visit them at zoos to understand how incredible they are.  If everybody knew about bonobos, a lot more people would make sure they are protected.

2) Whenever you get a chance do reports, speeches, and other projects about apes and the environment.  Some suggestions are on the Fun Stuff page and on my blog.
